I found a soft and delicious pita bread in my local grocery store that I’m absolutely fascinated with. The pack comes with 6 pita pockets and it costs only $1.39. Apart from using the pita bread for healthy and light sandwiches, I also have been using them as pizza crust and let me tell you, they do the job.
Poke holes on the surface of the pitta with a fork. Then bake the pita bread at 350 degrees for 5 minutes, then flip the bread and bake it for 2 more minutes. I prefer a crispy crust, but you can skip this step if you prefer a softer crust.
For the homemade sauce: Slice 2 tomatoes and cook them with 2 table spoons of water in low heat until they melt and turn into thick sauce. Add a pinch of salt and pepper and a drizzle of olive oil.
Spread the tomato sauce over the pita bread generously. Add mozzarella cheese and fresh basil on top. Bake your pita pizza for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
